where to start....The narration..was...SPECTACULAR! I was completely blown away by Daniel's improving skill that I could not put this book down. It reminded me so much of Sin City. The battle sequences were so well done and the story line was just as good to keep you in it with a few foreshadowing events and twists that lead to the highly anticipated next book (hopefully) War of the elements part 2. The characters were very believable and could relate to the soldiers that fight our wars. With a few exceptions that you'll learn further in the book which unfortunately couldn't get by without it being SCI-FY since it is a prequel to war of the elements. However, that being said this book is absolutely fantastic. I cannot stress it enough just how good the narration of this story is. Unique and yet similar to other book series and films. By far THE best work Daniel has done so far. Impressed by his growth as a writer, I have to give this book a perfect 5/5 stars in hopes that people will see this review and see just how good this book is. I was expecting yet another story about a Mary Sue female soldier who destroys her competition. Oh, how wrong I was, and I'm glad for it. I find stories more interesting when the character has relatable faults. Moreover, the author never deviated from his tightly written narrative. The only downside is by the time you're done you'll want to read what happens next, and as of now, without spoiling, the ending seems to be open for a sequel.
